MP Ihab Hamada said ambiguity persists over whether Israel truly controls the Ali al-Tahir hilltop, given its continued bombardment and lack of ground forces in the position.
Hamada told Sputnik radio that the Israeli military claims control of Ali al-Tahir while continuously bombing and raiding it, exercising only aerial dominance or geographical encirclement without ground presence in the site.
Israel has not released photographs confirming its seizure of Ali al-Tahir or the logistics weapons it described, Hamada said, questioning how large-scale fighter casualties and retreats could occur under tight aerial and ground blockade.
Hamada characterized Ali al-Tahir as one position among many in south Lebanon, each holding existential value. He said Israeli control of the hilltop, while significant, is not a military catastrophe, noting that resistance forces mounted an "epic confrontation" there.
The MP attributed Israeli gains to an understanding signed by the Lebanese authorities, saying it enabled Israel to seize territory that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously announced.
Hamada said the released captives have no connection to Hezbollah by Netanyahu's own admission, making their detention a war crime that should have faced international prosecution had Lebanon not forfeited its rights.
