Beirut has no shortage of news. It has a shortage of trust.
Lebanese readers already have more outlets than anyone can follow, and less certainty than ever about which of them is reporting and which is campaigning. That is the gap this publication is built for.
What we publish
Politics, economy and news, in Arabic and English, edited in parallel rather than translated as an afterthought. Three beats covered properly is worth more than everything covered thinly.
What we commit to
- Every story names its sources. If a claim cannot be attributed, it does not run.
- Reporting and opinion never share a page unlabelled.
- Corrections are public, dated and described, never quietly edited away.
- An editor reads, checks and takes responsibility for every item, however it was drafted.
What we will not do
We will not republish another outlet’s work as our own. Where we follow a story someone else broke, we will say so and link to them. We will not accept payment for coverage, in any form.
Our full editorial standards and corrections policy are published, and were published before our first report. That order is deliberate: a standard you announce afterwards is a defence, not a commitment.
