Internal Security Forces arrested a Lebanese man wanted on drug trafficking charges after a month of investigation and surveillance in the town of Rahbeh, Akkar.
A patrol from the Halba judicial unit arrested the man, identified as J.D. and known by the alias "Doctor Food", on August 23, 2026, according to a statement from the Internal Security Forces. He was born in 1986 and is Lebanese.
The arrest followed approximately one month of investigation and surveillance, culminating in a raid on his home in Rahbeh in Akkar district. A judicial warrant for his arrest and detention on drug charges had been issued against him.
An arrest warrant for George Dieb, as he is also named, was circulated to security agencies in late July. Judicial sources said at that time that the warrant would be executable upon his location and transfer to the competent court, and noted an earlier travel ban against him.
On July 16, Mount Lebanon Court of First Instance issued a sentence in absentia of life hard labour against Dieb and other co-defendants in a drug case. According to Lebanese media reports, the case involved manufacturing and smuggling narcotics outside Lebanon and hiding them inside food products.
After word of the sentence circulated, Dieb made a public statement denying that the case had been concluded as reported and asserting his innocence, saying his legal team was continuing to pursue the matter in court.
Following his arrest, the competent authorities received him and referred him to the relevant judicial body on the direction of the judiciary, transferring the case to a new phase of legal proceedings.
