The Internal Security Forces have arrested a Lebanese national accused of defrauding jewelry stores by posing as a buyer and disappearing with items delivered by couriers.
The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced on Monday the arrest of a man identified as B.S., born in 1985, on suspicion of carrying out a series of theft and fraud operations targeting jewelry shops. The arrest was made on August 20 by the Information Branch.
According to the investigation, the suspect contacted jewelry stores and requested they send items via delivery workers. When the delivery arrived and was handed over, he would tell the courier he was going inside to fetch the money, then leave through a rear exit he had selected beforehand based on the building's layout. He would then disappear with the jewelry without paying.
The operations attributed to him extended beyond jewelry to include mobile phones. Following a referral from the competent judge, the Internal Security Forces released the suspect's photograph and appealed to other victims of similar crimes to contact the Information Branch's Beirut office at 01-705127 so that legal action could be taken.
