Overnight and weekend asphalt work will close portions of a central Beirut road between al-Dakhweliye intersection and Forum de Beyrouth from August 18 to 23.
The Internal Security Forces have announced a series of road resurfacing operations on a Beirut thoroughfare, with work scheduled across five days in late August. A contractor will apply asphalt to the roadway extending from al-Dakhweliye intersection toward Forum de Beyrouth, specifically in the area opposite Yahya stores. The work will require lane closures and traffic diversions throughout the affected section.
Night work is scheduled for August 18, 19 and 20, beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m. the following morning. Weekend work will follow on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The contractor will complete the resurfacing in sequential stages on each roadway section.
Traffic from al-Dakhweliye intersection will be diverted either right toward Bourj Hammoud or left toward Mar Mikhail during construction periods. Vehicles departing from the fish market area, specifically opposite Yahya stores, will be directed toward Emile Lahoud highway. Openings have been created in the central island to allow traffic to use either the southbound or northbound lane depending on the phase of work.
The authorities intend to maintain traffic flow in both directions between Forum de Beyrouth and al-Dakhweliye intersection throughout the project. Internal Security Forces will direct traffic at the work sites, and signage has been installed to guide motorists through the affected areas. The public is urged to comply with the instructions of security personnel and to follow the traffic markers on the ground.
The timing of the operations reflects an attempt to minimize disruption during peak traffic hours on weekdays, with the bulk of the work scheduled for overnight periods when vehicular movement is typically lighter. The weekend work, while occurring during daylight hours, will operate within a defined eight-hour window. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys through the area and to exercise caution when navigating the temporary diversions.
