An Israeli drone strike on Nabatieh killed one person and wounded another on Wednesday, Israel's army said it was retaliation for Hezbollah drones fired at Israeli forces.
One person was killed and another wounded in a drone strike on Nabatieh, the state-run National News Agency reported, citing the impact of Israeli strikes across the area.
Israel's army said Hezbollah launched two explosive drones overnight at soldiers positioned on Ali al-Taher Ridge, reporting no casualties among its forces.
The Israeli military responded by striking what it said was Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatieh area. Israel has intensified its attacks on south Lebanon in recent weeks, particularly around Ali al-Taher, where it has previously said Hezbollah operates from underground facilities.
Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli targets in recent weeks, according to reports.
Last week an Israeli airstrike killed a woman in the south. On August 15, strikes killed 11 people including several children, with Israel's army saying it had targeted two Hezbollah commanders in retaliation for an attack by the group.
Israeli forces control a self-declared security zone roughly 10 kilometres deep inside Lebanese territory along the border. Lebanon has reported continued Israeli strikes, artillery shelling and destruction of civilian buildings in southern villages and towns.
Lebanon's health ministry says Israeli attacks have killed at least 8,920 people since hostilities began in October 2023, when Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel in support of Hamas during the Gaza conflict. Violence has decreased since a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding in June and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon later that month.
