Hezbollah Political Council member Mahmoud Qmati said the party would consider direct communication with Washington if conditions and interests align.
Mahmoud Qmati told al-Manar television that Hezbollah is not completely closing the door to talks with the United States, with any decision dependent on circumstances and Lebanese interests.
Qmati said the party had chosen to be patient and allow the existing political process to proceed, aimed at complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
He stated that Hezbollah remains militarily capable and that refraining from response to every Israeli action does not indicate weakness, adding that any Israeli attempt to occupy new territory would face a proportionate response.
On the Ali al-Taher heights, Qmati said Hezbollah's current position is to stand firm while studying all available options for the location. He denied the presence of Iranian fighters within Hezbollah ranks in southern Lebanon.
Qmati rejected linking the return of Lebanese territory to the question of the party's weapons, calling such a connection a threat to Lebanese sovereignty. He also said that sanctions and financial pressure would not force Hezbollah to abandon its resistance project.
