The General Security Directorate issued a statement asserting that claims about issuing forged passports are entirely without foundation.
The General Security Directorate said that information circulating through news media and social media platforms concerning forged passports has no basis in any correct data or facts.
The Directorate noted that it had previously conducted several investigations under the supervision of the Public Prosecution for the Cassation Court, which revealed that passports had been issued based on incorrect documents, resulting in the arrest of those involved and legal action against them.
The Directorate confirmed that it has continued its investigations and reviews of the file under the supervision of the Public Prosecution for the Cassation Court and has found no irregularities in any passport it has issued to date.
The Directorate called on news media and social media users to exercise accuracy and responsibility and to verify the authenticity of information, warning that publishing fabricated information could harm the reputation of the Lebanese passport abroad.
The Directorate announced that it will take all legal measures against any party or person who promotes or publishes false or misleading news that could damage its reputation or cast doubt on the credibility of Lebanese travel documents it has issued.
