Lebanon's military leadership dismissed allegations attributed to Israeli media about the army's positions and southern operations as false, warning against rumour campaigns targeting the institution.
The army's Directorate of Guidance issued a statement rejecting claims attributed to Israeli media outlets regarding the military's stance and operations in the south, calling them fabricated.
Military personnel remain committed to their leadership's directives and assigned duties, the statement said, carrying out their responsibilities based on their belief in their national duty to defend Lebanon's sovereignty, security and stability.
The army leadership enjoys the confidence of friendly and fraternal states that continue to support it, believing in the importance of its role amid the exceptional circumstances and challenges Lebanon faces.
The timing of these rumours, in a particularly sensitive and delicate phase, reveals the danger of attempts to target the army and its leadership, to sow doubt within the institution and undermine confidence between it and the Lebanese public.
Disinformation campaigns, regardless of who stands behind them, will not affect the military institution's cohesion or its performance of duties, the command said, and will not deter it from continuing to implement its missions to preserve Lebanon's security and stability.
The army called on all citizens to assume their national responsibilities, resist spreading rumours, and refer to official military sources for information about the institution and its leadership.
