Israeli forces struck southern Lebanon overnight into Friday, killing a young woman on Thursday and targeting the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge and several border towns including Houla, Qantara and Wadi Slouqi.
Israeli airstrikes on Thursday killed a newly-wed woman in the south. The military said it struck what it described as Hezbollah targets after the Iran-backed group attacked Israeli soldiers at Ali al-Taher ridge with explosive drones.
On Thursday, strikes also targeted Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Wadi Slouqi and al-Mansouri. Detonations were carried out in Baraashit, and on Friday at dawn Israeli forces detonated houses in al-Mansouri.
Overnight into Friday, strikes and shelling targeted Ali al-Taher hill and the border towns of Houla, Qantara and Wadi Slouqi.
Israeli troops occupy a self-declared security zone running some 10 kilometres deep inside Lebanese territory along the border. They are focusing on Ali al-Taher ridge in the Nabatieh area, which they say Hezbollah fighters use as a base with underground tunnels.
A U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, both agreed in June, have not halted Israeli strikes, shelling and demolitions of civilian buildings in southern villages and towns.
