Public Works and Transport Minister Faiz Rassamni held an expanded meeting with ministry contractors to raise the level of preparedness across Lebanese territory ahead of the winter season, stressing the need for proactive treatment of critical points before the start of rainfall.
The meeting covered a plan to clean and rehabilitate roads, drainage systems, sewers and rainwater outlets and to ensure they are ready, with the aim of reducing the risks of water accumulation, flooding and road closures.
Rassamni listened to contractors' demands and observations regarding the problems they face and the files that need follow-up and acceleration within legal and administrative frameworks.
Rassamni issued instructions to accelerate the implementation of works and to ensure the operational readiness of teams and equipment and to strengthen coordination with regional directorates for rapid intervention in case of any emergency.
He stressed the adoption of proactive treatment of critical sites and points and the completion of their cleaning and maintenance work before rainfall in a way that limits damage and ensures citizen safety and the continuity of traffic.
Rassamni met with Deputy Nadim Gemayel and a delegation from the Fishermen's Association and discussed the situation of fishermen and matters related to the marine fishing sector.
He met with Deputy Raed Barro on regional development matters and met with a delegation from the Ibel al-Sqi municipality to discuss service and development conditions.
He received the mayor of Douehy Zouk al-Kharab Aokar Haret al-Balana, engineer Nabih Taaeme, and a delegation from the municipality and discussed development and service files related to infrastructure and roads.
He met with Silvio Shiha and discussed a number of topics of mutual interest.
